Continents - A worksheet for Gr 2
A Contintent is a huge land mass.
On earth we find 7 Continents. They are named
- Asia
- Africa
- North America
- South America
- Antarctica
- Europe
- Australia
- Look at the map and see if you can point to the 7 Continents and say the names out loud.
- Trace or draw the map on a seperate paper and see if you can name the continents without looking at this worksheet.
Each continent has many countries on it. You can say - I live on the continent Africa in the country South-Africa.
There is a difference between a continent and a country. A continent is the huge land mass and a continent is divided into different countries. There are only two continents that are also a country by itself - Australia and Antarctica.
- On which continent is the country you live in?
There are different oceans that surrounds the 7 Continents.
- Look at the map and name the different oceans that you can find surrounding the different continents.

I love maps! I have a fair collection among my books.
good post, informative upvoted
Thank you
u welcome , upvoted my posts also
Nice one. My son in Grade 2 had to study this for the exam, memorizing it all, but I dont think their teacher had them practice it in detail like in your post. I had to explain everything at home and we had to memorize, sing songs about it and eventually we got them all.
Thank you - yes I see with my little ones - the concept of a continent and a country is strange to them
Yes, even more so for a 6year old. While he has a headstart here in the UAE by being in Grade 2 already, I still feel that he's very small too learn all these things compared to 8year olds. And although he now passed Grade 2, I think he is not ready yet for Grade 3 as the work will not become any easier, thus I decided to keep him in Grade 2 next year so that his cognitive abilities can develop a little more before taking on ever more challenges. I think he will benefit from it more at a later stage. Well we'll have to see. Difficult being a mother, a teacher and following psychology. I overthink everything!
