Badgers - Worksheet and story for kids
They look so cute and it looks like you can just pick them up and cuddle them. but do not be fooled by this very tough animal, the badger.
Badgers are part of the family Mustelidae this is the same family as otters, ferret, polecats, weasels and wolverines.

Badgers are nocturnal animals, which means they are active at night, The will mostly sleep during the day and do their hunting during the night. It does not mean they will not be seen at all during the day, it just means that they are more active at night.
The badger has short, but very strong legs. They are great diggers and since they live underground, they will dig burrows which is called a 'sett' to live in. The sett is usually a lot of underground tunnels where a few of the badgers will live together. They are clean animals and keep their 'house' very clean.
A group of badgers are called a cete or a clan. This clan can be made up from anywhere of 2 to 15 badgers living together. The males, females and babies. (Boar, sow and cubs).
The badgers head is long and his ears short with the white and black markings on it an his body can be grey and they can grow up to a meter in length and they weigh about 9-11 kg, depending on the type of badger.
They can run quite fast (up to 30km/h), but only for a short distance.
