If you can 'train' yourself to be more positive, things will be much better - Tips for teens

If you can face the day with a positive feeling inside of you, your day will be better.  It will feel that more things are going your way and it will also give you a 'happy' feeling.  

Being negative can pull you down and make everything seem worse than it is.  

Being positive is something you can decide on and make sure to bring into your daily routine.

Some people go through life, always moaning, always finding fault and always being negative and in a bad mood.  They do not only upset themselves, but a lot of people around them that have to listen to their constant nagging and fault finding ....

Are you that person?  Don't you think life will be so much easier if you put more effort in seeing the 'good' around you and face each day with a positive attitude?

Nobody says that you may NEVER feel a bit down or in a bad mood, but being positive and happy will be more that the bad times and this will just lead to feeling more happy.

You will not only make yourself feel better, but you will also be a kinder person that will also help other feel better and more positive about themselves.

What can you do to get your 'positive vibes' flowing?

Be aware of your feelings

Start concentrating on how certain situations make you feel - some people does not just wake up all positive and 'bright eyed and bushy tailed'.  They actually need to learn to become positive.

Make a decision to focus on your feelings and the moments you feel happy and positive about something.  You can even write it down, so that the days you feel a bit 'down' you can read it and think back on how you felt and this can help you to feel happier.

Once you start realizing what makes you happy, you can make sure to incorporate it into your life more.  It may make you happy to be around your friends.  Spend some time with them every day.  

We cannot always just do what we like, we need to sometimes do things we dislike also, but you can think about how you feel when you are happy and that feeling will help you to feel more positive about other situations.

Once you are positive and not moaning and saying things like "I hate this, I do not want to be here, I do not want to do it" and rather look at the positive side like "If I am done with this work I can do the things I like", you will teach yourself to see a little bit of positive in every situation.

Sometimes some 'brainwashing' is needed

Sometimes we need to fool our brains a little to start believing that we are feeling happy.  If you smile a lot or dance to your favorite music or tell yourself that you are having fun, it will not be long before your brain catches on and you really start believing you are happy and positive. 

Focus on the small things that makes you happy an try and put some of it into every day.  Once you can 'train' you brain to find the positive sides of situation, you will find it easier every day to be thankful and positive - even if it is for something very small.  It just takes a little 'spark' to get you positive.

The opposite is also true. The more you moan and find fault, the more your brain will get use to finding fault .... we do not want that.

Commit to one or more daily actions that will increase the feeling you want more of in your life. Make time for these experiences. Think of them as the emotional equivalent of your "5 a day" fruits and vegetables — they're good for your emotional health! 

Surround yourself with things that make you happy

Some people unfortunately are only happy if they have expensive things around them, but you can be the person who can be happy with things that 'comes from the heart'.

A photo of you and a friend, a special present that you got from somebody you care for, a letter from your mom etc.

If you can appreciate gestures from people and not just 'stuff and money' it will also be easier for you to be happy and positive.

 As you work on increasing your positive emotions, you might notice that you feel happier, more accomplished, and more energetic. A small daily investment of focusing on the positive pays off with big lifetime rewards. 

Open your eyes and start seeing the 'good' around you.  Waking up every morning and being alive to face another day, is more than enough reason to be positive.  

Grab the day with both hands and refuse to be a 'Debbie Downer'.
