Sains : Measuring Tools

In everyday life we are often confronted with information that demands the accuracy of a data. For example if we want to make a shirt then we need a tool to measure how long from each part of our body, after that we need a tool to measure the length of fabric we need. What happens if the measuring instrument we use to measure the fabric is different from the measuring instrument we use to measure the body? Of course the clothes may be oversized or small.

Things will become more fatal if we ignore the measuring tools we use against one's life-death, for example on usage major operation. If we give a dose that exceeds the patient's ability will definitely lead to things we do not want. From the description at above then the use and as well as how to read the scale on the measuring tool is absolutely necessary in our lives. Measuring tools in everyday life are numerous. What I discuss is discussed in this post is a measuring tool for the length, mass, time and temperature.

Long Measure Tools

Internationally agreed the unit length is meter. Then made standard meters are stored in the city of Sevres, near Paris. At first the material used to make a standard meter is iridium platinum.

Because it is estimated that there will be a standard meter deviation made of metal, then made a standard meter that did not change by any influence. Redefined 1 meter standard equals the distance equal to 1,650,763.73 times the wavelength of the orange red light produced by Krypton gas.

Around us many we encounter a long measuring instrument, such as rulers with various models from plastic, wood and metal. While the more rigorous but rarely metallic length gauges we encounter is the term sliding and micrometer couplers. Slide and micrometer couplers are used by people who require precision in measuring the length / thickness of a material.

Mass Measuring tools

The mass is something that is contained in an object. Mass magnitude is not affected by earth gravity, meaning that measuring the mass on the equator will be the same if the mass is measured at the poles. Even if brought to another planet its mass does not change. The tools used to measure mass include:

  1. Balance of arms
The same arm balance in principle is a lever with the fulcrum in the center. The mass of the measured object is equal to the weight mass equal to it.
  2. Balance of Ohauss
Measurements using the ohauss balance sheet are essentially the same with the same arm balance. In the state of equilibrium the mass of objects measurable read on the arm that has a scale. If it consists of 4 scale then the numbers on all four scales are summed.

Time Measurement Tools

In ancient times we often hear the use of hourglass and hours of the sun.
In 1967 scientists have established: 1 second is time which required Cesium atoms to shake 9,192,631,770 times.

The most common time measuring tool used in everyday life is a watch or watch. For more rigorous measurement results are used stopwatch. Its accuracy varies from 1 second, one tenth of a second and even one 1/100 a second.

Temperature Measurement Tools

Every day we are always in touch with temperature. It's just that we do not measure the temperature every day directly using a measuring instrument, because in general to know the coldness of an object simply use the indicator on the nerves in our skin.

When the morning we feel cold and when the day we feel the heat. But how much temperature at that time can not be known. The temperature gauge is a thermometer. In Indonesia the most commonly used temperature measuring instrument is in the celcius scale of its symbol (0 C). In addition to celcius units are also used units of fahrenheit. For the purposes of international science reports the units used are kelvin (K).

How to read a thermometer is very simple, we simply see the number (highest) shown by the expansion of mercury on the glass tube of the thermometer. To avoid reading errors then the way to see the scale of the thermometer should be parallel to our eyes.

Great post! I've used all of them in my classes. They come in pretty handy ^^

Yaaa ... i teach my student to know that measuring tool. Thanks for comment @ryunamist

Really educating. Today you just taught me. Thank you rabbi.

I am a teacher, I try to apply my knowledge in steemit... Thanks for comment @papaudeme
