I enjoyed reading this! The following hit home very hard:
Monotonous assignments make students get bored. They just do them for getting a good grade.
I don't like studying only for grades but it seems like there isn't a reason for school except to be a place to fight-for-grades... That's horrible. Hope it's different where you live.
It's kind of worse, actually... Anyways, schools in general have this problem. And it is also reinforced by how most parents introduce their children to the educational system. They are constantly demanding to get good grades. But the development of person goes beyond that. There are exceptions as I said in the post where some students have other perceptions about school. They see it as a place of discovery.
Unfortunately, others see it as a cage where they have to be for some period of their lives. And they get along with with it because of the social life they establish with their peers.
Also, the educational system has part of the fault. The authorities make it so generic that students don't purpose in it. And some of them usually end up doing merely what they're told just to get by.
