Sigmund Freud : The Father of Psycho-analysis

His name is Sigmund Freud. He is a figure who popularized the theory of psycho-analysis in the field of psychology. Sigmund Freud was born on May 6, 1856 in a small town in Czechoslovakia, Austria. He is the son of Jacob Freud, one of the Jewish families who settled in Europe. Although he was a Jewish descendant, Freud was not a devout believer. He considers that religion is merely a fiction of its adherents (source).

At the age of 17, Freud entered college at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Vienna. However, during his medical studies he got many obstacles. Nevertheless, Freud got direct guidance from Ernst Brucke at the university's laboratory so Freud became a researcher after finishing his lecture in 1881.(source)

After graduating, Freud focused his career in observing and reviewing his stand and his scientific hesitation and he got the satisfaction of being a researcher. So, he got a lot of opportunities to collaborate in research with well-known professors at that time who were mostly scientists of positivism who rejected the metaphysical ideas.

Before marrying Martha Bernay, Freud began working in Paris with a neurologist named Jean Martin. While working there he applied the method of hypnosis in the healing process of patients suffering from medical disorders. Freud no longer uses hypnotic methods after discovering new methods of free association and dream analysis. This healing method was applied based on the concept of the human subconscious (source).

The method of free association is a method Freud used to express the problems experienced by the patient through the pressure that was pushed unconsciously until the problem was revealed by itself. While the dream analysis is a method of Freud's understanding that one's dream is an unconscious pressure, whether it be desire, desire, fear and emotion.

Nevertheless, the method developed by Freud was widely opposed in those days. Even still debated until now. During his lifetime, Freud was very active in writing to produce works such as The Interpretation of Dreams, Introductory Lecture on Psycho-analysis, The Ego and The Id, Future of Illusion and others (source).

Freud died on September 23, 1930 in London. But his work is still in use today in the field of psychology and he is known as the father of psycho-analysis where most of the methods he finds are still used in the field of counseling. Not only that, many of his literary works are still read today.

Interesting article. I've always been a great fan of Freud...I must admit I'd thought about doing a post on him myself. I enjoyed reading yours, short, but told the story :D

Thank you for reading my article @honeydue

You have written a good article about Sigmund Freud.

In a few words, you knew how to cover interesting facts, and so we could know a little more not only about his work but also about how he was as an individual.

Good job, congratulations.

Thank for your appreciation on my writing. I am glad to hear
