I don't know why I've been so into buddhist quotes lately, but this one really made me think!
Being in love means getting butterflies in your stomach every time you see them or even think about them. It's a great feeling, when your knees get all shakey and you nervously look down at your feet so that it won't be too obvious that you like them. Which, of course, it is. You could tell from miles away that you're in love.
But love like that fades away. At the beginning, you might only see the positive sides of your partner and then get disappointed later because your expectations were too high.
I don't know if the one soulmate exists for everybody, but I sure as hell know that there is- or will be- that person for you that'll make you feel like it just works. And there are so many great people out there, that maybe if you haven't found the right person yet, the perfect match for you is still waiting out there in the world! Or you already know them and haven't noticed yet?
How to know that you've met your soulmate
- You don't know. There might not be that WOW moment when your life flashes before your eyes because you realize that everything you've been looking for is in that one person. You get to know that person and fall in love with everything that they are over time. And probably know right away what you don't like about them as well.
- You feel comfortable around them. There is not a lot of nervousness as you are aware that they aren't perfect either and there isn't really a lot you can do wrong.
- You weren't looking for them. This one is so important! You don't get the man/woman of your dreams by searching as if you were looking for a piece of you that you have been missing. You were a happy, complete person without them and getting to know them romantically only works as an EXTRA you didn't even ask for.
- Your friends love them. I don't know how to have a relationship where you can't hang out with your friends and your significant other. Maybe some people can work that out, but my friends know me very well, so if they think the person is right for me it can only mean something good.
- You can be honest. Everyone has their insecurities, and being open about those and loving each other nonetheless is the best.
- The're like your best friend- but you still have other best friends to spend your time with. Having a best friend as a partner sounds so cheesy, but if they see you for who your are and you can talk about anything with them, that makes for a "soulmate" kind of person. What's really important here, though, is that each of your has their own friends and hobbies as well with which they can contribute to the relationship.
