This is a great article that gives some insight into your culture, and also the human condition in general, @sharoonyasir! I enjoyed reading it.
I don't watch these kinds of shows any more, but I have in the past. They keep people coming back because they are so true to life in the deeper issues they strike on, and that resonates with people. I think they also attract viewers because people like to think they would make better decisions than the characters keep making.
Like you touched on, the characters are making their lives so much more complicated than they need to be because of the decisions they make, or fail to make. We like to think we do better.

Thank you so soo much for this meaningful reply and all the appreciation. Yes, we identify with many of the characters which is why we keep watching the shows. Some characters make us feel that there are others who have the same pain while others give us power and yeah while seeing some, we do feel we could make better decisions than them. Yes, the characters and in reality, many of us are making our lives more difficult than life ought to be.
