365 Days of Gratitude: Day 26 - Airplay

in #steemitblog5 years ago

Do you remember the days when there were only a handful of channels to watch and changing the channel literally meant getting off your ass, going to the TV, and turning the knob? Those days are long gone, my friends. Here in 2020, we're sending shit from our iPads/phones/laptops/whatever straight to the TV without having to do much more than connect a Chromecast. If you can figure that out, a likely triumph since it's incredibly easy, you can basically turn your TV into whatever screen you want. Right now, I'm watching a podcast on my TV after sending it via Airplay from my iPad and it never ceases to blow my mind how this shit works. It's science, dawg, and I'm all for it.

Now, I have no idea who invented this feature nor do I have the brain capacity to even begin to understand how it works, but that doesn't mean that I can't take a few minutes to appreciate the genius that put this all together. Whether you're watching stand-up comedy, podcasts like I am right now, cat videos, or diving into some new PornHub categories, the ability to fire whatever video is on the docket to a much bigger screen is a gift from the nerds at the science academy and I'll be forever grateful for their innovation. Now, if someone could just explain to me how it makes sense that a video is travelling through space from my iPad to my TV then that would be great. I'm pretty dumb despite feeling infinitely grateful, ya know?
