UFC 220: Miocic vs. Ngannou

UFC 220 took place at TD Garden in Boston.

I am jump here to the point and say The heavy weight fight was just disappointing, all Martial artists out there will know exactly what I am talking about.
I mean it was something like a street brawl between 2 big dudes.

Whilst I respect both fighters and their efforts and dedication, but (sometimes life is about luck rather than talent).

I mean watch the fight again and again, Francis Ngannou fell short, and showed how weak he can be when things doesn't go his way.

Francis Ngannou:

• Starting with his standing Game:
  Francis Ngannou was just trying to score a knockout punch, that was his plan and only plan, I mean it, HIS ONLY F*** PLAN!!!
  And he failed to actually show some boxing/head movement skills, He was like a charging bull using his weight and power to go forward. Which basically led to Stipe Miocic countless takedowns, which also highlighted how weak his takedown defense is, almost zero.

NOT A SINGLE KICK, Legs are very powerful weapon, With his body size and Muscle Mass, Basic Muay thai skills would allow him to cripple Stipe Miocic thigh with some of shin kicks or even to score points, but that did not obviously happen, which shows that he depending only on his arms, leaving 50% of his body out of the equation.

• Ground Game:
  He failed to show BASIC ground game skills, no Hip escapes, no shrimping, couldn't think of taking Stipe Miocic to a full guard and start working from there.
  Even when he had Stipe Miocic in half-guard failed to show any basic sweeping techniques.

Not to mention the bad cardio, he knows he is going to be in for 5x5 minutes rounds, running out gas after a couple of rounds in a UFC title fight is just explainable.

For the sake of being objective, I am not going to talk about myself, but on a SLOW DAY most of training mates does 6x6minutes rounds, using full power, submissions, etc...

It's called Martial Art, and nothing was Martial or art about his performance.

Stipe Miocic:

He showed Amazing takedowns, but then again, same issue, weak ground game, he managed to stay on top, but on countless occasions he had the opportunity to finish Ngannou with Arm bars, or taking his back, Americana, Kimora, etc...

Miocic at some point had a chance for a very easy from the top triangle but never capitalized on the weak, out of gas Ngannou, and instead he settled for weak punches to the face of Ngannou which were not very effective.

All he needed to do was cross his right leg with the left one which was already behind Ngannou head.

Even Ngannou had a great opportunity here to use his right arm to left Miocic right leg and sweep him to stay on top, but as mentioned earlier, Ngannou has no ground game.

Daniel Cormier

Simply neat, a true martial artist, showed an incridible game with lots of skills,

******************Fighters from Saturday’s UFC 220 event took home some nice payouts which were declared this time.

The two fighters who entered as champions and exited as champions again with the belts around their waist..
Stipe Miocic (18-2 MMA, 12-2 UFC)
Daniel Cormier (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC)
With $40,000 each, the maximum pay under the new program structure.

Although I really doubts that's what they really earned, perhaps for tax reasons the payouts are not declared or very little value declared.
