A fruitful day to all Steemians. Lapu - lapu City is a neighboring city of my home town Cordova. In fact, it is just a walk in a short bridge that separates Ibabao which is the first barangay of Cordova and Babag II which is the last barangay of Lapu-lapu City.

A Historic City

If you remember guys, the city was given the name because our first Filipino hero Lapu-lapu who killed the Spanish expeditionist Ferdinand Magellan. This pictures were taken at the Lapu-lapu Shrine of barangay Mactan where the battle actually happened.

Because of this historical event, the city mayor tried to develop more on tourism inviting capitalists to have their five star hotels and resort businesses; and now upgrading the city's identity as the Historic Resort City which is accompanied by the concept of establishing the Branding Colors.

Lapu-lapu City is one of the country's tourist destinations known to be the Historic Resort City. It is the idea of the recent mayor Paz Radaza that the city must have the four tropical branding colors with the corresponding meaning as follows:

  1. Blue - reflects to the traits of Oponganons ( The Natives) who are independent and trustworthy
  2. Yellow - for positivity and warmth
  3. Orange - means fun
  4. Green - for health and balance

The Purpose

This is answered by the city mayor who initiated the branding strategy.
“Our goal is to establish our reputation and be known. Since Lapu-Lapu is an international tourism area, it’s easier to describe what Lapu-Lapu is because of our branding.”

“We have long been dreaming of this branding so we can attract more new investors which would then generate more employment opportunities and establish a clear identity of the city.

The new packaging includes painting the branding colors in government buildings, street posts, islands, government vehicles and even uniforms of government employees; a tourism slogan, and promotions of the city as a tourism destination with lots of resorts.

If it's your first time visiting the city, on your way will surely know that you are now stepping the city with the branding colors of the street islands.

When you enter the City Hall, you are welcomed by the branding colors at the receptionist area. Even the small Suggestion Box is painted with the branding colors.

The landscaping of the City Hall yards are also painted with the branding colors.

Here are some of the city's offices all with the branding colors' logo.

The complaint box and even trash bins are painted with branding color. Any government owned properties are all with the branding colors, schools, hospitals, etc. Even the documents released by any of the city offices have the branding color borders.

The branding colors strategy is very effective in giving an identity of the city to make it known nationwide. When a worker wearing his branding uniform, the driver of the vehicle to ride already knew that he is his passenger. This is just the simplest instance that the city maybe known. In my own opinion, the strategy is quite effective especially the goal to promote tourism being the historical city not only to be known nationwide but worldwide.

Come and visit Lapu-lapu City, Philippines.
