Someone Fix The Cheetah Bot

in #steemitabuse7 years ago

For my latest post which is about promoting steemit posts on SteemTracked.com, I received a comment from the cheetah bot assuming my intentions were to spam. I'm not sure how @cheetah can overcome this, if not I'll take it and avoid coming across this issue again.

I'm not sure who made the @cheetah bot and I'd appreciate if this reached him/her.

Thanks community.

ahah right. sometimes he find some similar pattern probably @shango!

Well in the current format, your posts are 99% the same. Cheetah thinks you're plagiarising by accident. However, even if you wrote it yourself it does come across kind of spammy.

Maybe it'd be a lot more interesting for your followers if the copy/paste text with the rules and all was shorter (or just a link to a previous post in which you explain those rules) and the rest of the content was something different each time. For example, some highlights of the promoted posts and why you liked them.

That way Cheetah doesn't see you as a spammer, promoted users feel happy that you mentioned them in your post, and casual readers won't think this is just some kind of spam.

Yeah thanks for the advice and the thing is, someone new to my post may not be willing to check the previous post. Looks like a catch 22 situation lol.

You could make a summary for your regular post and end it with a link to the full explanation?

The summary will be plagiarism when I use it again. Maybe I'll rewrite the introduction and think of something new.

That depends, I think cheetah only counts it as plagiarism if the post is mostly the same as another post. If it's just a small part and the rest is unique you should be fine :)

That also happened on my 'Steem World Journal' posts.

From the FAQ:

@cheetah is a bot developed by @anyx that scours Steemit for copy/pasted content. Cheetah will not downvote copied content, but it alerts other users to look into it further.

Q: Is receiving a comment (and upvote) by Cheetah a bad thing?

Due to the above two points, I want to stress that a comment about detection from Cheetah is NOT an accusation of malicious intent. Simply put, the comment informs the reader that the content can be found on the web in another place, and was there before the Steemit post.

I know how you feel man
