What can I actually do with Steem?
It doesn't seem like we can actually use the currency to do anything on site. It's almost like it's only purpose is to be exchanged for bitcoin , USD, or to be turned into "Steem Power? to build influence.
TO me it seems like the currency would be more validated if we could use it for something on site...like maybe purchasing articles or posts.
What's your take on it? I've only been a member here for a few days so what do I know. It's just opinion but what do you think?
You give Steem its value. You can participate in a few ways, upvoting, commenting, and authoring. There's some other technical stuff but the basics are here. Its like Wordpress meets Bitcoin meets Reddit. You can use html to enhance your posts and even link to websites and post pictures. The only limit is your imagination. Free your mind Neo!
They are working on setting up a marketplace where people can buy/sell goods using SBD/Steem. Its a big project though, so will probably take some time to be fully up and running.
You can promote posts with SBD, so that's one use within the site..
I have seen some posts here about Steemit being used on some websites to buy things and services like a payal button. BUT i have not tried or even looked into it much.
Otherwise its real value is in Bitcoins which in turn has unlimited buying power.
The nature of any currency is its value is only based on its demand. Anything can be valuable even seashells. Steemit value at the moment is mostly through Bitcoins but that will change over the next few months as the platform develops.
that my noob opinion. havent fully figured it out out yet myself but thats what it makes me think.
