Steemit is a decentralized platform and you can do whatever you like
but you can apply some ethical rules.
I think there is nothing wrong in upvote your own comments on steemit
because if you spend some time to write it and the others can not upvote it you
can upvote your own comment there is nothing wrong to upvote your own comment

Well, i don't think you are right, steemit is a social media platform, yes you also can make money here, by upvoting yourself you won't solve anything, it won't give you money, and also you waste your voting power, there's no reason to upvote yourself, it's like licking your own balls.
So don't do that, keep posting what you want or try to get a niche. Both ways you'll grow, but it just requiers time.

Yes,it is not wrong to upvote your comments,but in the long run I think it is better to focus on branding yourself,creating your own content,and let other upvote you..It just seems more natural!
