You are not the only one. I also had to recover my account and change the passwords. How are they doing this? This took one day from the time I sent recover message to Steemit Inc. as advised.
FYI - there was a scam by somebody posting about a fake 'glitch'. When a user clicked on the link posted, a dialog box was displayed that requested ID/Password exactly like the usual SteemIT login dialog. This is how somebody 'stole' passwords.
Many steemians fell for this scam and apparently many accounts were 'hacked'.
