The most googled products of each country in a crazy map

in #steemit8 years ago

There are many prejudices. Certain countries are associated with certain products - beer with Germany, carpets with Turkey and electronics with Japan.

But these are not the things people are really searching for.

I have found a world map containing the products, residents are mostly googling for. You just have to use your autocomplete function and type in the sentence "How much is ..."

These results are not that scientifical - actually based on the autocomplete search history of the user, as well as on the time and location where the search has been conducted - they still say something about how countries are perceived.

Some of the fascinating - and disturbing - results:

• People want to know how much is a flight with the fighter MiG in Russia.

• People want to know how much is a prostitute in Brazil.

• People want to know how much is a nose job in South Korea.

Here are the maps:

Africa

With Africa it begins quite sad: Most googled phrases are building houses or petrol. Camels, cows and goats are for Africans of course very important, too.

Sure you can go on safari there. But as you can see in Mauritania most googled word is slavery, which still exists in spite of it's repeated official abolition.

Asia

In India the cow indeed deemed untouchable, but googling does not hurt her, right?
In the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, people are sporting quite happy with luxury cars - Lamborghini and Ferrari are highly regarded here.

In Saudi Arabia, people are rather relying on the good old camel, which also consumes less fuel. In South Korea beauty is extremely important. Why people are mostly talking about their rhinoplasty. But for goodness sake what have the Japanese to do with Watermelons?7

Europe

It is almost incredible that the Germans googling for cars, the French for croissants and the Swiss for watches. Well, these search phrases should nevertheless be well known ... Eastern Europe and Iceland are instead mainly interested in beer. Something is questionable: The Russians want to know how to pilot a MIG. Where do they want to go for it?
And why not Vodka?

South America

Something immediately catches the eye: The Brazilians are looking for prostitutes. The Argentines found their luck elsewhere: In beer.

In Ecuador, bizarre enough the Panama-Hat is googled most frequently. Not that strange when you know that it is produced there for centuries traditionally.

Guyana is the only South American country that imposes the death penalty yet. Therefore, are funerals the most googled words.

North America

While in the USA you want to make a pile of money with patents, the Canadians are looking for an experience abroad and need a passport. The Mexicans have understandably eaten too many delicious tacos and they need a tummy tuck.

While in Nicaragua you already are thinking about pension, you're looking for a new kick in Panama, therefore your approach is parasailing. Cubans googled quite clichéd cigars.

Australia

In Oceania it is all about family planning, in Fiji, the marriage fever has erupted apparently. In Malaysia, you are still googling for houses, but the Australians are already a step ahead in life planning. They are informing themselves about In-vitro-fertilization, which is artificial insemination.

In New Zealand, the children are obviously no longer an issue. Because they consider a vasectomy.

Antarctica

Antarctica, the southernmost continent on Earth, actually has no population in the classical sense. There are remaining a several hundred to a thousand scientists and tourists. That's why googling "country" can just be explained by the desire for solitude. Well, good luck while cuddling with the penguins.
