The Yunk Phenomena: The 10 Commandments 4 Responsible Upvoting

So you are new to Steemit, and wonder why you should upvote content and which content should you upvote?

This post will not be about the technical part of upvoting, soooo many post are out there and will give you the low down. For example check out this great post Voting 101 from @tecnosgirl.

Here I’ll sharing with you the #YUNK philosophy on responsible upvoting, under the format of the 10 commandments.

1. You shall not ignore your voting power: vote everyday! So you know that you get rewarded for upvoting awesome and sweet content, and you help the post get the visibility it deserves. Don’t let that power go too waste. You have STEEM POWER invested and you want to make the best use of it!

2. You shall not waste any upvotes on lazy content. Are you voting for content that required effort and/or talent? For example - if it’s a picture, is it an original shot?

3. You shall not waste your thumb power “Liking” a post on another social site before Steemit. This goes without saying! If you believe in Steemit, you got to make it your go-to social media!

4. Remember to look through you news feed multiple times daily. Many gems are published through out the day. Why not peek in during your bus ride or during that awful long wait at the doctor’s office?

5. Honor those who have honoured you. It’s all about community.

6. You shall not down vote a post for an invalid reason and without explanation. So I have never downvoted a post, but I’m thinking if you do, you should leave a comment explaining your actions. And not agreeing with the content or topic should not elicit a downvote.

7. You shall not upvote a post that does not move you. Did it reach you in any certain way or did it leave you numb?

8. You shall not upvote with your eyes closed. Do you take the time to read the posts that you upvote?

9. You shall not steal. Inspired by a post you’ve upvoted? That is ok, but don’t steal it by copy pasting and making it your own post. Upvote then Resteem!

10. You shall not be stingy. Show love to the posts who entertain you and keep you coming back to Steemit!
