We need an About tab in profiles.
I'd love to be able to tell people about myself when they come to view my blog profile.
I'd love to be able to mention the Steemit Talk Podcast, for example, and about the kinds of things I like to post.
I'd love to be able to make the experience a bit more personal by including bits of info about myself so people could get a clearer picture of what I'm about and what they can expect from me.
Anyone else think this would be a good feature?
Avatars would be cool too, which I suspect they have on their list.
I left a comment about this a few days ago, I think it's important. I'll paste the comment here:
I think something has to be done about that gray human outline, maybe replace it for a humanoid 👽 instead? You really don't know if you are dealing with humans anyways, but I think it would make for an excellent joke as to the learning curve when you first open your account. A joke about how out of place you can feel when you first join Steemit. It's more inclusive than that Ruby Rose outline.
In a way I like it that people don't get to show their picture as easily as in facebook, just to set an example, because I think it could give the impression that people are judged similarly here. At the same time, knowing how internet users are about their territory, a lot of people may not even join upon finding out they can't set a profile pic.
Perhap's the picture could go on the blue space on top of every profile? That way the picture wouldn't show next to the article on the feeds but users feel like they can personalize their blog a little more. Sort of like the cover picture on fb.
Would be nice to have say five post you could highlight. Or maybe auto fill introduceyourself and top five valued post.
I think they are working on something along these lines :)
We do need a static page, even better if comments can be made and the thread can't be closed.
Agreed- something that can even be more of a "profile" page where you can just have continual comments, etc.
It would be awesome I think. The question is how to actually implement it: Specifically which features are the most important etc.
But I do wonder if the platform does not have much more important things to fix first, that I for one don't know about, just because I'm not a developer.....
I like how some people include a graphic at the bottom of their post that says more about them and what they post about here on Steemit. Or they link to their 'introduce yourself' post.
