Why Attracting and Retaining New-Users is Important to the Investors and Stakeholders of Steem

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

As long as there have been humans gathering there has been buying, selling, trading...  an economy.

Where people gather an economy follows.

I am willing to bet during the cave man days, they were trading, certain bones, stones, sticks, possibly even caves based on some type of currency.  It might have been food, goods, knowledge, or seniority.

Kids at lunch tables sell and trade cookies for jello and other desirable lunch items.  All it takes is a group of humans, and desire for something someone else has.

Trading posts in the early days of the USA were usually positioned along well traveled areas.  Why?  The more people you can reach the better chance there is of more variety, added goods, and yes, more customers.  Malls understand the more products and people you can gather in one place the more opportunities will be available for both buyers and sellers.

Sophisticated adults now trade stocks, bonds, crypto, and commodities, using computers and software from their own homes.  (no gathering?)  The reality is the software and the computers give us a place to gather and trade.  As technology has improved more people have been able to take advantage of the gathering to provide, diverse options to more people.

Ever since I arrived at SteemIt, the question has been asked  - How do we monetize or add value to Steem?

The Solution?

Add people to SteemIt!  The people will start an economy.  The more people the more options we have.  Want to bring advertising to SteemIt?  We will first require people for the advertising company to gain a value for their ads.   Want to create a "Market Place", the more buyers and sellers will be make a thriving economy.  (See ebay.com) If you want Steem to become a token that holds value as a means of purchasing goods and services, the first question businesses are going to ask when they are making a decision to use Steem as a currency is "How many people want to use Steem as a means of purchasing our products?"  The second question is what do I do with my Steem after I purchase it?

If you remember the early days Facebook and even Google, one big question even as they were publicly traded became,  How will they earn money?  I guess that has been answered.  The people were the value.

What do we need to do to add value to Steem?  Add people to SteemIt!!!

Absolutely! everything will improve with greater numbers - quality of work, wider political / philosophical perspective, and those who are not humble, who are too comfortable with the amount of attention they are receiving from a relatively small group, will need to compete and generally behave better.

Yep this, if a lot of people have steem and decide it has value for use in buying stuff, then it has value for use in buying stuff. The only thing steem needs is more users and this whole thing will become massive.

Exciting times ahead.

Being a "trader" most of my life. I want to know more on how to help create this "traders" market in / of / with STEEM. I was the kid with three lockers in high school. One locker for books like everyone else. And two more lockers for my "trade-ables". This included drinks, foods, cards, and comics of various sorts. Will be exploring more of this idea more soon with some posts.

You sound a little different or is it just me? Meaning more optimistic I suppose? :)

Yes, I let go of what I can't change. ;) Time to hunker down for the long haul.

If you really think about it, you are changing it. Every time you speak on voice chat, post, and comment. People will learn the Steemit "etiquette" through you. They will learn how to use the platform, and be the change.

You asked a lot of questions I didn't think of asking and they were valuable ones too. I'm glad you're sticking for the long haul.
