Spamming Comments is Our Most Important Issue? Are @asshole 's even our biggest issue?
When a little situation gets bigger than it needs to be
Spamming the nearly empty comments section doesn't seem to be a big issue. @matrixdweller made a bot that spammed price info on people's posts, if they used specific tags. It was just a comment, neither bad or good. There wasn't much point to it, and thus @pfunk flagged it.
I didn't think it was a big deal for @pfunk to flag the spammy comments, but it also didn't seem like an act that was greatly adding or distracting from enjoying SteemIt. (oh no, he posted a price on my blog!!!, I quit)
The result has been lot's of flags and nasty comments on people's posts, and additional drama, hurt feelings and side taking.
@asshole 's flags do not have a huge impact on posts. It's a meaningless flag. (nor did the original comments make much difference)
Following that came the spam comment's regarding "@berniesanders is going to sink the price" bit by another bot, and then, yet another another flagging account. Possibly also connected to @matrixdweller
Well, again not good behavior, but is any of it worth all of the drama?
Folks we have a fairly flat price and basically every stat I can find points to the fact we are not retaining users, growing the platform, or increasing the value of Steem.
I have been frustrated with all the bots, voting groups, lack of diversity on the highest priced posts. (Which is also still getting a lot of comments and debates) I have spoken out about it in a non-productive way.
What if we all relax a little and try supporting the users that are here, whether they are our favorites or not?
(Yes, I am including myself in this as well)
If the current situation isn't working, let's keep trying, but do something a little different.
Insanity is making the same mistakes and expecting different results.
No attack on anyone intended as I think everyone is "trying" to do what they think it best.
Yes. Lets chill out a little. Few people pay much attention to the comments. Though what we could do is make the comment section text only, with no graphic or link content. When I first started here in December, I used my conventional signature, one I normally used on other sites, which included a photo and a link out to Gridcoin.us, as that is my other major interest. However, it soon became evident that such signatures are not the norm, and I dropped the graphic, but continue to use a signature line. This is partly because I think it is important, and also as I am forever warning against Bitcoin hype, it is only fair people know I have a vested interest. Plus of course I think Gridcoin awareness is important. Conversely, when I post on other websites, I often use a similar signature for the benefit of Steem. I also always make a relevant comment related to the post. I don't just pop and shoot a template comment.
ColdMonkey mines Gridcoin through voluntary BOINC computations for Science...
None of it was worth a huge battle. Lot's of people have tags or whatever. Let's take a chill pill. :)
What was that thing in the Matrix, about a Red Pill versus the Blue Pill, we can introduce the Chill Pill. :)
@whatsup, you said asshole
lol, yes, I did
You have my support. ☆☆☆☆☆😎
Let us chill out, until we are "steemin'"
Amen......

I think @matrixdweller is probably behind @asshole and whatever the other bot accounts that post the @berniesanders crashing steem posts also. He has generally been amusing in the past but now he's just being a dick, spreading and spamming fud around.
He is being a dick, but did it even need to get to this point? I am just thinking it could just be ignored.
I am not soiling my feed with his posts anymore, and from now on I am flagging those dumbass posts as well, until they disappear under the red line.
I haven't the faintest idea what is motivating this guy. He seemed ok but more and more he's revealing himself as a self-defeating loose cannon.
Well said
