Are you aware there are site issues? SteemIt, Inc

in #steemit9 years ago

To SteemIt Inc.,

As an account holder and as someone who holds Steem, I find the lack of communication from SteemIt, Inc. regarding the terrible performance of the site extremely disappointing.  It actually feels disrespectful to tell us about a new logo or even talk about SteemFest without addressing the current issues.

It is not clear to me whether or not you are aware of the issues at all.

  1. The site is painfully slow
  2. Actions such as voting and posting, done on the interface do not always make it to the blockchain
  3. The nodes other applications are running on also seem to be going up and down
  4. It feels like a waste land on the site as far as meaningful interaction

The timing of this is terrible as you prep for SteemFest and try to launch new branding and I understand it is likely stressful.

This site is a reflection of your organization's ability to manage a project.  Anyone considering investing in Steem will likely end up on this site if they search for it, as we don't have a marketing page.  Even if your focus is to build a blockchain that supports Apps, please consider the investors and current users of your only functioning applications.

Hoping to hear from you.

After a year of posting here, the experience has gotten markedly worse.

There has never been much communication from 'on high', so I gave up expecting transparency and user interface to be on their priorities list. This latest episode has only served to emphasize that fact. The recent post by @ned sealed my opinion on that front. A pat on the head ain't gonna cut it.

I'm looking for a major face-plant by Steemit, Inc during and after Steemfest, if they don't get their shit together quick, fast and in a hurry.

(Just for the record, I'm not holding my breath waiting for them to pull it off, either.)

It is really very painful. But I think esteem app is running very smoothly.

I tried logging into today from both iPhone and iPad and neither worked, just hung up after inputting username and posting key... :-/

Exactly how I felt, the wasted time and waiting for it to response. Also I lost some posts and had to re-post. Cannot upvote people and cannot read as it does not response.
Thanks for writing and letting them know.
@jackpot

Its very frustrating and annoying. Takes ages to do what I usually do

It just took me five attempts to upvote this post.

But everything is fine. SMTs and a new logo should make things better.

3 clicks until this comment upvote was recorded.

Edit: 2 tries and 2 min waiting until the comment got recorded.

Truthfully, it doesn't look like anybody cares. I have a similar post I'll be posting later or tomorrow. I think people will be leaving in droves soon and there won't be anything to fix!

Well said @whatsup. How disappointing and at times infuriating it is to spend a goodly amount of time simply to give an upvote! Indeed it does feel like a wasteland and gives the impression that those who are higher up on the rankings have moved on to greener pastures. That leaves little impetus for the smallfry to achieve anything worthwhile, ineffectually poking at their upvote button in vain...phht!!

Yep, it's slow. Too much junk clogging the blockchain.

I read in some post that the developers are working on this, and that soon there will be updates, but the author does not refer to anything. From where he took the information...

yeah - rumors, but no seemingly official updates/news.

@ned posted yesterday. They are aware and working on it.

His post was meaningless and actually insulting. I am not a SteemIt, Inc. hater, I just expect some reasonable communication from them.

Thank you for all you do timcliff.

Agreed - that post from @ned would have better been left unposted.

(Note for the record - it's taken four tries to post this comment.)

He said they are working on resolving the issues.

Of course he said that. What else could he say?

“Yes, there are issues but we’re not working to resolve them.”

The problem is that they rarely communicate what the issues are, how they’re being resolved, or offering any timeline for possible resolution. And it usually takes a couple of weeks of vocal user dissatisfaction to even acknowledge the problems. When they finally do - as @whatsup pointed out - it’s usually completely devoid of useful info and quite unprofessional. It is insulting to anyone who spends time on the site, let alone developers, businessmen, or investors who put money and other resources into trying to build on and improve the ecosystem.

A little attention, communication, and professionalism would go a long way. It doesn’t always have to be amateur hour, every hour on/with Steemit.

He said there was no DDoS attack. But he did not answer what was happening.

He said they are working on resolving the issues.
