Why Steemit Is So Important To The Crypto Eco-System

in #steemit9 years ago

Bitcoin and Ethereum get most of the headlines, but Steemit is one of the most important parts of the cryptocurrency eco-system for a number of reasons.

The most important contribution Steemit offers to the crypto world is the distribution of the coins. STEEM is given to the people that drive the community of Steemit. It isn't mined like other coins, it is payment for creation and curation.

The ability to be paid in STEEM for creating content opens a door to crypto that no other coin can offer. It is hard to invest in Bitcoin and Ethereum and Litghtcoin and others. You have to create a Coinbase or some other account and turn your fiat into crypto. Then transfer it to a wallet. If you want to mine the coin, that is another complicated process.

If you want to get into crypto easily, you can use Steemit and just leave great comments and write great blogs and you will start gaining cryptocurrency. It is the easiest way to get into crypto because you are doing the same thing you are doing on Facebook... without the trolling.

Steemit is the proverbial gateway drug to harder to access crypto coins.

Without Steemit, there are many less technically savvy people that wouls have never gotten into crypto. Hard working moms and dads, college students and busy professionals. People who are busy can ease their way into crypto by reading and responding to blogs. They can make crypto by explaining their journey.

Steemit is one of the most important aspects of the crypto universe because it makes it easy to gain access. Other coins should be using Steemit as a way to educate new people to crypto about their coins. Other coins should be investing in Steemit because for the time being, Steemit is the gateway to crypto understanding that no other platform can offer.

Let me know if you agree in the comments below.

To my followers, you are my gateway to crypto happiness.

@walkingkeys, I couldn't agree more with you. I agree it is the easiest of crypto currency to get into without any initial down payment. Create an account and start blogging.Get paid for creation n curation.
If it's an introduction to crypto, that is fine. But here instead of mining , steem is generated by the value generated by the blogs of steemians.
So we have thousands of "Accidental bloggers" here which is a good thing.
I who never wrote a single blog ever, have been writing down some stuff here for the first time in my life. The lure for lucre has never been greater. No investment, write and earn has never been so exciting n inviting.
But my question is, I am a minnow here, 2 month old. Do you really believe my blogs or for that matter blogs by any of the 1,00,000 accounts created in last 2 months will be able to garner the traction and payout that you might be suggesting?.
Just an hour ago, I read this blog here and that started me thinking.
https://steemit.com/steemit/@karenmckersie/what-has-happened-to-my-beloved-steemit#@topdog/re-karenmckersie-what-has-happened-to-my-beloved-steemit-20170806t160505624z

That blog is not mine, but from a senior steemian who has been on this platform for over 1 year now.

I feel that posting quality blogs does not guarantee anything here in this platform. Having a sizable SP definitely helps. Having some whale /dolphin support definitely helps, Having some faithful followers perhaps helps , Coming onboard with some real talent helps a bit.
But for the average Joe who does not have any notable talent in any field or skill in blogging or any support, I don't think steemit will really reward him with anything worthwhile.
Forget the early steemians here, the ones who joined an year ago. It was a small pond then, fewer blogs, easy n better recognition n visibility, large payouts. Things have changed after HF19 and entry of 100000 new accounts in last one /two months. We have over 2,75,000 accounts now and that's not going to make easy for the average Joe.
But I agree steemit is nevertheless the most attractive and easy mode of entry into crypto world and earn some crypto currency for free.

You are right, it isn't for everyone, but even the most casual observer can read and offer good replies to posts and generate some STEEM for their efforts.

Of course not money is truly free that is valuable. Steemit takes effort, hard work and talent to grow. I think it will become a more polished blog site over the years and command a lot of attention from web users. The hardest thing to remember is that Steemit is in it's beta and we are still at the very beginning. The site wil either continue down this path or will find a way to fix it. Too many people are invested to just let it die off. It is still growing and when the value of Steemit goes up, more people will come and participate. I feel Steemit's value will go up, but with no major marketing plan, Steemit will rise and fall with digital trends. I feel it will really pick up in the fall as school gets back in session. College students and high school students will find a wealth of info that will be value able to them.
The whales are taking some time off after being obsessed when the huge spike happened over June and their SP was worth so much. I feel they'll come back and the people that are making a buck or two a post will start making five and up. It will be wild again, but it will come in phases and waves. I fully expect Steemit to start a huge uptrend when school goes back in session. In the mean time I am converting as much to SP as I can to get ready.
You make a great point and I really value your input. Thank you for reading and responding.

Thanks for the post and I do agree that I, for one, would likely never have gotten interested in cryptocurrency without being introduced to steemit. I still have to admit that I don't understand much about cyrptocurrencies but I do try to read at least one blog post such as this per day in hopes of continuing to educate myself.

I think there is a tremendous amount of potential but with anything in this world, you can't start at the top (well, most people can't). You start at the bottom, pay your dues, learn and grow and perfect. I'm here to learn and for the long haul. I've already made some awesome connections with others who share my interests and if I never made a cent, the contributions they have made to teaching me new things will pay me well into the future!

I admit, it was the thought of making a few bucks that brought me to steemit initially but I've seen a lot of value in the blog posts too. The posts and community are like a banana split with the cyrptocurrency being the cherry on the top. My opinion anyway :)

Great comment!

I've got a lot of learning to do. I see the potential here, especially to make quality connections with people. I also came here for the potential payouts. I'm still here for that and have a plan to work towards my goals here on Steemit. If you ever have questions about crypto-currencies when you read an article... just ask in the comments. People here are quick to give a helpful answer.

i agree with you.

cool gif of the bong bros. I agree, it is a good entry into understanding theother cryptos. It will most likely be similar to EOS at its inception as a useable blockchain. It will probably be around as long as others support Dans worth or any other worthy crypto. we reached 300k yday right? They are all potentially game changers, and steem is a good place to discuss.

I agree it introduces many into the crypto world that would otherwise not have had the opportunity to explore it at no cost out of pocket.
I am still to new to it all to judge if it will take me beyond what I am doing now.
Sharing for others to chime in...

I strongly agree to the points you shared and i think it is really an authentic platform where one can gain intellectual grooming as well beside earning steem dollars. Writing worth reading blogs and comments really help increasing reputation and Steem Power. Wish you best efforts. Thanks for the informative share.

I totally agree as well. I hope that the Steemit platform can accept and keep up with the growth as well as the community

I think it's important to give the users power and decide how the new coins are distributed, even the power vote friends, family or yourself too that's a way to reward those who invested in eco-system it's kind of like a master node.

Steemit is a fantastic platform! It's definitely one of the top ways to show a use-case for crypto. There is plenty of speculative ways to use bitcoin and plenty of lottery and gambling apps. Besides auction sites and other ways to spend crypto for real world goods this is the best possible way to get people involved.

I used to write for freelance websites like ehow and demand studios. It was a fun little side gig. But having to do SEO for the posts and getting content approved by editors was frustrating. For people who post on steem-it daily and find a group of followers they can actually earn a decent income and they can say whatever they want within reason.

This is the future of wide acceptance of crypto. A solid application that gives people a reason other than speculation or drug buying for needing to participate in crypto.

Great article!
