Everyone of you that has Bitcoin in an exchange, you are risking losing MONEY.
Steps to protect yourself:
Download a bitcoin wallet client to your PC/phone/tablet (example given https://wallet.mycelium.com/)
(you will have full control of your keys there)
-Transfer the BTC from the exchange to your newly created addressThen you are safe.
If you do not do this you are risking losing a part of your MONEY.
Please be advised.

Good warning. When the split occurs you will need your private keys to get your coins from both block chains. Let's say you have 10btc now and you follow walden's advice... Fork occurs and you then have:

Anyway, as long as you do not have full control over private keys like in an exchange, there are risk of losing all your money -cryptsy, mt.gox-
spread it around....
