Wild Steemit Mosaic: Can Steemit help Wildlife conservation? (Original DigiArt, Photos and thoughts)

Lazing around today, in a weekend mood, I dabbled in some Art (??) that, for me, combines my two passions. This image shows a representation of Steemit's protective hands (created from Steemit logos) with the earth (from this source).

The entire image is made up from many micro images of wildlife and nature (Original photos taken by me).

The photo collage process involves fitting appropriately shaded color images from the image collection to recreate the approximate color shade of a region in the master image. For example, if we zoom in on the brownish land mass portion of the earth, it shows my wildlife pictures which had brownish / red / yellow shades. An example is shown below.

The blue portions are made up of many bird images with blue as a prominent color. The predominant blue of the sky in most of the bird pictures makes them ideal candidates for blue shades. The bird pictures are useful for creating various shades of blue in the Steemit logo too. An example is shown below:

A mask applied to the rest of the image, using GIMP, made the background plain white instead of many images with whitish colors.

What does the artwork represent?

As I created the art, I was thinking about the ways in which Steemit platform can help for Wildlife conservation. Following, very nascent ideas spring to mind:

A) Steemit Wildlife Watch - Can a Wildlife watch app be created based on Steemit blockchain. Anyone who happens to site an endangered species can perhaps snap a picture and upload on the app. This will facilitate a database of accurately time-stamped data on sitings which will help in things like -

• Analysis of Habitat

• Migrating patterns

• Census verification

• Mating patterns etc.

  The fact that Steemit postings automatically get rewarded will encourage more and more wildlife enthusiasts as well as other good Samaritans to participate in the exercise. Right now, there are a few apps and websites who try to record sitings but they do not incentivise participation. Therefore, this, perhaps, may be a better idea that can generate more frequent and reliable data.

B) Steemit based Charities to collect funding for wildlife activities- There are already many charities and NGOs (Non-Government Organizations) trying to work in the wildlife conservation area. A Steemit based charity, with all transactions transparently recorded in the blockchain may help to curb abuse.

C) Steemit based wildlife tours (just like Steemit based SteembNb) - Self explanatory. A facilitation and interaction platform based on Steemit for wildlife enthusiasts perhaps.

Being a new member and one a bit 'creatively inhibited', I do not think I am am the most qualified one to think of creative ideas to use the power of Steemit to support the cause. May I invite all creative and experienced Steemians to come up with ideas. Please comment freely and provide your ideas.
