Should we add ads in our publications?

Something that we all know is that most of the social networks on the Internet that reward content creators are supported by the implementation of a payment system based on the rewards received from advertisers.

Steemit, on the other hand, does not do this, it is supported by a more sophisticated mechanism, but at the same time more vulnerable. The rewards obtained in Steemit depend, necessarily, on the demand of Steem and SBD in the cryptocurrency markets, a demand that in turn depends on the speculative euphoria in the market.

This brings with it a long-term problem for Steemit that basically can not owe its existence eternally to speculation in the market, but must look for ways to maintain a continuous demand for Steem and SBD even if the euphoria in the market decreases.

Thus, the Steemit community should not only worry about creating content, but should also take care of the task of maintaining and giving value and sustainability to the Steem and the SBD, which are their particular cryptocurrencies.

While the rest of social networks can base their business model without this concern, since it is not their job to worry about matters of economic or monetary nature, for the content creators in Steemit we need to think of ways to manage not only the content that is published on the platform, but also correctly manage a currency.

For this reason, it should be our concern to propose ways to add value to the Steem and the SBD beyond the intellectual, artistic, financial and social contributions that we can deliver through our publications.

For now, I've only been able to think of a way that allows us to bring some value to the platform, and basically consists of introducing, in our publications, paid ads in Steem and SBD.

I could easily take those items that I have for sale on eBay or any other place on the internet, and instead of just posting on those sites, I can also enter in each of the publications I make an ad that takes me to that page or that simply allows me to buy it with SBD and Steem directly.

If you write food articles, for example, you can enter ads about the pages in which people argue about that, you can also add an advertising link about a certain Youtuber that makes videos about food recipes, or simply the recommendation to a Restaurant.

On the other hand, we could use these ads to sponsor other users within Steemit. Users with more reception in their publications could charge a fee that allows small fish to post an ad in their publications for a certain period of time increased thus the exhibition of its publications.

If there are people who pay for voting bots, would not there also be people interested in promoting themselves in user posts, which sometimes have more exposure than Trending itself?

There are practically no limits to what can be done if we put some creativity to the issue, probably all this I'm saying is meaningless and there are many better ideas there rolling, but it is clear that we are not taking advantage of the opportunities we have to exploit Steemit to the maximum and increase the value of the Steem and the SBD.

You know what, in fact, I am willing to add an ad in my next 10 publications in English. You only have to send 0.001 of Steem leaving written in the memo the link of the image relative to the announcement and the link to which you must redirect that image when you click on it, no clickbait or links traps, the link must be true to the image of the ad. (Be sure to be the first, because I can't saturate my posts with ads).

Here is an example:

Probably an ad in my publications is not at all effective as a method to promote, because my posts are hardly seen by a small number of people, however, I can bet that hanging ads in the posts of writers with greater reception would have a much better result.

If you are new to Steemit and want to write about history or science, you could pay an accessible amount to one of the writers with the highest reception in that category to post an ad in their publications, in such a way that it helps you to attract more quickly the public that is interested in that type of content, of course, another point to take into consideration is the quality of the publications; it does not matter how much advertising you do to your product if the customers leave dissatisfied after trying it.

One of my earliest posts on Steemit was a concept proof of an in-video Search Engine for businesses and organizations that accept cryptocurrency, which would play at the end of a video and include paid ads.

Now I'm thinking maybe a Steem based crowdfunding site would be a good idea. Encouraging people to spend their steem/sbd on projects they support would increase non speculative circulation of the currency.

With that, I think I'll take you up on your offer - I just need to create a banner for a particular post.

It sounds good, I would like to see something like that.

There is, it's called fundition

Just musing....

Haha, yes, it's really something very similar to that, it's like paying for word of mouth advertising.

...mention me on your first comment with Viera, and you receive an upvote...????

Let me have a think...

Also ads get people a continuous income on their blogs. But then I think the whole idea of decentralized social network also includes to keep it ad free and free from customer targeting. However, the ad free system comes with a drawback where content creators only get paid for 7 days, even if the content is useful to public in long run. I think there is however a possible way out it. An alternate platform, something like WordPress which automatically publishes articles from steemit, after it is more than 7 days old. So while steemit system stays ad free, the content creators can keep benefitting from their content by letting advertisers promote their products through these blogs. So while steemit rewards and selects quality articles in first 7 days the selected articles can live their life forever on the alternate platform. Though I am not sure how feasible this would be policy wise, I think it is something that would be nice.

Quite interesting that concept. Where do I have to sign?

this has to be a big "agree" to me. We do need some way of increasing ngagement with our cryptocurrency, and if we can't figure out a more creative way of doing it, ads might be a good idea
