in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

First session began with the Indigenous People ritual by some priestes 'bobohizan' in Borneo. It's just a symbolic opening for the event.

Introduction among the participants.

There are about 26 participants in the programme. It was supposed to be thirty participants but two from Mymar and two from Bangladesh could not make it as there some problem with visa and the Goverment's policy on these two countries on entering Malaysia. Participants are from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Philipine, Australia, Pakistan, Bhutan and New Zealand.

During introduction, we have to introduce ourselves, where we're from and what do we do during our leisure time. Most of the participants answered that they love to sleep...well...who does not!

When it comes to my turn, I just told them where I come from and that previously what I do during leisure time is watching Korean Series but recently it changed to blogging on Steemit...yeah.. I told them that, and they just looked at me like I speak 👽 language. Guess they don't know Steemit yet.

After the introduction session, we're briefed on the schedule for the whole ten days of training. We're expected to meet some big names and facilitators during the training. We're divided into five groups and my group consist of two Malaysian ladies including me, two Indonesian ladies and one gentlemen from the Philipines. It seems like I'm the oldest among them and the less knowledge on Human Rights. Oh well ...never mind...like I said, education is a journey.

In Group

After lunch time my group was assigned to be the host of the training. One member have to be the master ceremony (mc) and another one to perform some refreshing activities so that the training won't get that boring. My new friend suggested to do an exercise game called Marina dance and tower. It was fun and everybody loved it.

Later in groups we're presented with talks concerning land rights and the strategy on how to be succesful in your activism. After the talks we're asked to discuss in group and presented our outcome. I was elected to present this and I was a bit nervous but whatever..I just go with it.

The session finished with another assignment to be presented tomorrow on what issue we would like to raise if we're to meet with the highest ranking person in the United Nation.
