[NEW FEATURE] Steemit Cover Image - Did I win???
New Feature
So while I was taking a few day hiatus from Steemit this new feature was implemented. I came back today and discovered this new feature. Without any research or thinking I decided to try something. After installing my Cover Image I went looking for some guides/tutorials for it already and was surprised there were already a few out there. They all seemed to be complicated and took way more steps than what I did when I installed my Cover Image.
Idiot Proof Guide
First let me say my cover was ridiculously easy because I already had a Panoramic Image (of my own taking) ready on my hard drive. I am assuming most of you won't so start with Step #1 (If you already have a good wide image skip to Step #2).
Step #1: Finding your Image
There are numerous sites on the internet with Creative Commons imagery you can freely use. One of my favorites is Pixabay. So head over to which ever one you want and find an image with roughly 1600 width X 400 height (image can be wider and taller and still work most of the time). Once you find the image you want to use (try) go to Step #2.
Step #2: Storing Image on the Blockchain
Save the image you want to try to your computer. This can usually be done by Right-Mouse Clicking the image and clicking Save. Once the image is saved on your computer Start a new post (Submit a Story) then use the "Insert Image" feature to insert the image into a blank post. As soon as the image link appears in the post copy the URL_to_the_Image and then click CLEAR and go to your blog/settings page.
Step #3: Installing the new Image
Once you get to your blog/settings page find the field that is titled: Cover Image URL and insert the link you copied in Step #2. Now click Save and you are all done!
Here is mine!
