How To Upvote - For Newbies

In these past few days that I've been on steemit I've seen many new steemit users not understanding the power of upvoting.
Upvoting is a simple thing just as liking a post on facebook or instagram but its a little more complex than that because when a user upvotes themselves or anyone else they are essentially sending steem or in simpler terms making money from the steem blockchain.
To avoid users from abusing this there are limitations as to how many upvotes a user can cast in a day, as a newbie its important to understand this and use your upvotes with responsibility.

I would like to show you a few tools which you can use to track your own voting power and avoid running out of voting power which would make your votes worthless for some hours or days depending on how much you deplete your voting power. You can go to steemd.com which is created by @roadscape.
This is a simple yet powerful tools to track all the information that you'd need on steemit. All you have to do is type you user name after the website link with "@" in the beginning. example - https://steemd.com/@varunpaherwar

Here you'd see your voting power which should look something like this depending on your steem weight or SP -

for now you should focus on your voting power and take a note that it doesn't go below 80% as it takes 24 hours to recover 20% of voting power. I would recommend that you only use 20% of you voting power per day as it'll allow you to keep voting everyday. Going below 80% would also make your vote significantly less valuable.
If you are new like me who as Steem power (SP) delegated to him which would be around 15 for you going under 80% of voting power would just make you votes worthless.

Another good tool to check you voting power is at Steemnow which was created by
@penguinpablo (nice username).
You just have to enter your username in the settings and it'll show you not only your voting power but all other useful information as well. Just remember to not type your username in uppercase or the first letter in uppercase as it'll say that the username doesn't exist.

One more cool thing you can do with this platform is that you can use the slider to see how much you voting power would be worth at different percentage levels. You can also click on the the calculator symbol to calculate how much your votes will be worth at different Steem power, Voting power and Vothing weight.

These tools will give you a estimate of how much of your voting power you can use so that you never run out of your voting power ever again and possibly make your accounts as big as @jerrybanfield or @purepinay who I follow and the many other big users who know how to use their voting power.

While I have been on Steemit for a few months now, I still find the voting system confusing. If I vote on two posts, is my second vote worth less than my first vote?

Yes it does a little bit...But you can see that kind of differences on a whales account...With smaller users its not much difference...

Ah, thanks, I checked the worth of my votes on Steemnow and it's the same for every power level above 53%.

That sounds about right! The more SP you'll have the smaller differences you'll be able to notice...
Glad I could be helpful! 😊👍
