Minnowsupport is a such a boon for newcomers, we're lucky to have that now.
In some way though, I'm glad i didn't have the support as i think it helped me focus on the content of my work rather than preoccupying myself with networking. The networking i was able to accomplish sprang forth from the content and subject matter i like to explore.
