Why is it crucial to hunt, and up-vote original works by new users?

One of the problems I observed in steemit community is: "People don't know their role and end up hurting the community by not fulfilling their duties."

Q) So what are a steemit user's duties?
A) Every steemit users MUST find original posts and up-vote them, that's the number one priority for all users.

Q) Why?
A) It's simple, the value of your account depends on the number of users and the quality of steemit content, if the users start abandoning steemit or steemit becomes a cesspool of bots and spammers, the value of different types of steem in your account will go down like a stone in a lake.

Q) I just want to make money posting, Others will do the finding and up-voting.
A) Not if everyone think like you.

Q) But how can I figure out if a post is original.
A) You don't have to, with bots like cheetah, those who steal their content from somewhere else will eventually get caught. All you need to do is finding good posts and up-vote them.

Q) What is a good post then?
A) A good post is a post that teaches you something or provide some useful resource you can use for something. There's no value in:

My Balance Today 74,6$| ENJOY | FREE Money |
Coffee of the Day
[food] TRENDING & HOT posts in 'food' category, sorted by payout [9/29/2017]
or any post from those who find an interesting video on youtube and post it on steemit.
And all those meme contests I'm guilty of participating in.
These have no value, they're just spam in hope of some random up-vote.

Q) But my votes value is only 0.01 what good can it do for them?
A) Believe me your up-vote have much more value for new users than those posts with $150 already on them. You might think at least you'll get something out of voting for popular posts but all you're doing is reducing the value of your own steem.

Q) Why can't new users work hard to earn their place?
A) They are, but without mass participation, their whole steemit experience is hanging from a thin string of chance.
Consider this scenario:
You're a new user and you have plenty of computer skills, you'll spend the better half of your day writing a tutorial about how to use a fairly common software. after posting you'll go get a cup of coffee, 20 minutes later you check on your post, nothing! 2 hrs later, nothing, that night, nothing, the next morning, nothing!
You'll spend the whole day figuring out why by combing through the pile of "how to make it on steemit" posts, then you'll spend the next day following whales and dolphins and trying to get their attention, then you spend the next day writing another master piece, the chances is nobody will pay any attention to your post since you have no steam power, another day passes and all the attention you've got is from a bot. How motivated are you to spend another day writing something that didn't get any attention?
That's how steemit loses a good author or gains a spammer.

Q) Why they don't use minow support or other bots?
A) Pride.
A) Most new users who quit, quit in the first week, because they can't get any attention and they don't have SBD to pay for bots.

Q) I don't see you doing the thing you're preaching.
A) I do, just not on this account, I decided if I'm going to act like the rest of steemit and use bots, post low value posts and start nagging, I'm not going to do it on my main account.

Now it's up to you to decide, do you want to see steemit grow? or hang from your branch and let the roots rot?
