Edelweiss flowers are also called eternal flowers, and these flowers contain the hormone ethylene which can prevent flower petals from falling. With that hormone, Edelweiss can bloom and last up to 10 years, even more. Because it is called an eternal flower, edelweiss is often picked to be used as a souvenir or memento and brought down by climbers. Even though Edelweiss has been banned from being picked because it is feared it could threaten the population of the protected Javanese Edelweiss flower Javanese Edelweiss (Javanese Edelweiss) or which has the scientific name Anaphalis Javanica usually grows no more than 1 meter. However, under certain conditions, this plant can grow to a height of 8 meters, with a stem the size of a human foot. Edelweiss flowers are able to live on barren land and are pioneer plants for young volcanic soils in the mountains.
Edelweiss blooms when the rainy season ends when sunlight is the incentive, between April to September. When it blooms, this flower is usually visited by around 300 more types of insects, namely butterflies, flies, fleas, bees, wasps, and others. Javanese Edelweiss flowers usually grow in places with an altitude of about 2,000 meters above sea level (masl) and above, depending on air temperature and humidity.
