30 day writing challenge #28 - Given That Steemit Is Open Source, Would You Start A Steemit Clone? If Yes, Why? If Not, Why?
Today's question is:
Given That Steemit Is Open Source, Would You Start A Steemit Clone? If Yes, Why? If Not, Why?
No. Oh god no. Dear god no. Steemit may not be great, as a social platform, as a tool for publishing things, but even to get where it is, it took a lot of work and a lot of clever people working together to get it up and running. The effort it would take to make a clone of it, by myself, is beyond anything I would ever want to attempt. Also, why?
Why would I want it? If I want to store something on my own blockchain, I'll just tie an HDD to a block of concrete with a chain, and I'll be sure it's safe. Maybe if I wanted a distribution network for my own stuff... but... then why not use the Steemit and the Steem blockchain that's already here? Even if I made the system, I'd still have about as much control over it, since it would all be witness dependent.
Maybe if I win the lottery and don't have anything to spend money on, I can hire people to make a clone of it... for... ugh... nope, still can't think of a reason for it.
