STEEM – Cryptocurrency Review

Hello fellow Steemians! The 2018 New Year appears to be starting out strong! Steem is starting out the new year strong as it is currently up 45.62% on coinmarketcap! Taking a look at its chart reveals that steem is starting out the new year with all new highs. This is great news so far and looks to be a great sign for the start of the year. The $4/share barrier appeared to be high and a tough mental barrier to break, but nothing steem couldn’t overcome as it currently stands at $4.37/share at the time of writing the post.

Where can Steemit go from here? As the first social media network to pay its community, the sky is the limit in terms of growth. Thus, far there have only been 334.25K user accounts created. Comparatively, Facebook had 2.07 billion monthly active users in the third quarter of 2017. If Steemit can achieve only 1/3 of what Facebook has, that would mean 600 Million active users. This number is very conservative and obtainable due to the monetization offered by Steemit compared to other social media platforms. Thus, at a current user base of ~ 300K, obtaining 1/3 of the user accounts that Facebook has obtained would mean a 200,000% increase in growth for Steemit compared to where its currently at in the present moment.

Steem also has a total circulating supply of 246,747,120 STEEM, with a current market cap of
~ $1B. Looking at the cryptocurrency space and the recent explosive growth it’s seen over the past year in 2017. Its easy to see the growth potential steem has throughout this new year here in 2018. As the top 6 cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ripple, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Cardano, and Litecoin) make up a combined $462B, and the total market cap of ~ $600B. The growth potential of STEEM is truly limitless.
