RE: Verified Beheadings, Child Porn and Classified US Government Diplomatic Cables on SteemIt

This stuff will get downvoted so hard it will disappear from the news feed very quickly. As far as I know, it's not practically feasible to censor content from being posted on the Steem network. I mean, you could easily post terroristic threats, for example, in a memo line on a bitcoin transaction, and no one could stop you, or remove it. However, as steemit.com is run by a US based corporation, they could be required to censor various content from appearing on this particular website, although that content will still exist and be visible on the blockchain itself.

Hope so, but what happens when you're unlucky and run into the real insidious shit?

Gets a bit worrying, you know. If there's truly no plan or protection in place besides the public downvoting what it doesn't want.

I understand that the blockchain cannot be censored, but will SteemIt at least look after it on their side (somehow)? If so, how? And who is going to be responsible for censoring SteemIt?

Right, for example suppose a terrorist organization bought a huge amount of steem power, then with only their own vote they could likely make it to the trending page. However it would just take a couple of whales to downvote them for the post to disappear. After that steemit.com, which is run by Dan and Ned would possibly block the account. Since there is a 2 year withdrawal period to transfer those steempower to another account, this would be a pretty costly waste of time probably. The thing j am worried about is if i carelessly upvote something "less" illegal without thinking about it, like plagiarized pictures or content, because then am i somehow complicit in a way, because i "gave" them financial support or something?
