I think it depends on the content.
If the information is useful and still relevant, sure, why not? One can even improve the original post, as you say.
On the other hand, if the information is not very relevant and you have nothing to add, maybe it's best not to do it.

Yup. That's what I meant to say too. It's better to not post it if it doesn't add any value to your blog or the platform in general. But if it does, it's totally fair to do it unless you don't make any new edits in it.
