Steemit was written up today in Cointelegraph in an article titled "Top 10 Companies of the Blockchain Industry in 2017", alongside Ethereum, Ripple, Coinbase and other crypto-heavyweights.

This is a feather in Steemit's cap and good publicity which educates the public that Steemit actually exists. On the other hand it serves to indicate what Steemit is lacking: media attention.

While an article in Cointelegraph is what directly brought me to Steemit in July of 2016, I seldom see an article about Steemit there anymore. When I first joined over a year ago there were two or three articles a month in Cointelegraph mentioning Steemit. A search of "Steemit" on Cointelegraph revealed only 3 articles for all of 2017. Compared to 14 articles written in Cointelegraph in 2016, I would say that Steemit is losing it's notoriety BIG TIME!

In case you don't know it, media exposure is what makes or breaks something like Steemit or Steem. Over and over throughout history, media coverage of a company creates business like you would not believe. A single appearance on a show like "The Tonight Show" or "Oprah" can make someone's career to the tune of millions of dollars. Articles in major Newspapers or a mention on major networks can be worth 10s of millions in business. This is just a fact of life.

Steemit, Inc. needs to get off it's ass and hire a publicist to get the word out about Steemit and Steem. Make Steemit a household word and put it on everyone's lips. Write interesting press releases. It doesn't even make a difference whether it is "good' or "bad" publicity. Just get in the media.
