Ascending From The Abyss Once Again

As I have been slowly climbing out of my MOST RECENT "Steemit Nervous Breakdown", primarily with the aid of the new alternative, less stressful, and more passive, "rough times" "Steemit Productivity Strategy", which I outlined in the previous [Day 10] post, I stumbled upon some very interesting comments and posts which have helped me adjust my perspective in a way which has helped revitalize my efforts once again. The reality is that we all make assumptions about the nature of Steemit, and the functions and purpose of our Steemit activity. The good thing is that these assumptions - which form an overall perspective - are subject to change over time, as our experience and understanding of the platform evolve. It is, therefore, VITAL for us to remain open to this potential to change our perspective, and as a result, to alter our productivity strategy in any way which will help us move further along towards our longer-term goals on Steemit.

What The Heck Is "Perspective" Anyway?

When I talk about "perspective" I am referring to our overall sense of what Steemit essentially is. I mean, do you view it as mainly a place to produce content and (hopefully) earn some Steem income on that content? If so, you will likely become quite discouraged in the beginning phases of your Steemit journey. You will easily get discouraged when you invest your valuable time and energy writing posts which then disappointingly earn a mere few cents, and a less-than-desired amount of interaction from readers. EVEN IF you write some higher-earning posts you will STILL have some low-earners more often than you would like. In contrast, if you alter your perspective a bit to start viewing Steemit as simply a BETTER social media application than the "Social Media 1.0" platforms like Facebook, Twitter, etc. then you can more easily begin to simply and gradually use Steemit as a your main social media site, and all of the activity you perform on Steemit will provide the more IMMEDIATE rewards which you gained on the older social media platforms, but with the added benefit that you AT LEAST now have the potential to earn some income from your efforts. In addition, since one of the major revolutionary aspects of Steemit is that it provides incentive for people to be more creative and experimental, you will find that the platform provides more potential for personal growth in any of your endeavors (ex. writing, photography, music, programming, drawing, educating people on subjects of which you have experience and/or expertise, etc.) In other words, Steemit holds MUCH MORE potential than the legacy social media platforms, because it provides a quality-enhancing, competitive "free market of ideas", the fruits of which help promote personal development and growth. Finally, Steemit incentivizes connections with interesting people from throughout the world. You will meet TONS of interesting people who are putting out very interesting content - which is incentivised by this Steemit "free market of ideas" - and whose interaction can change your life for the better in many ways. Sometimes, just ONE comment, or post, that someone makes can help redirect you back onto course in your current efforts, or even potentially send you into a totally different direction on your journey or personal growth and Steemit success.

Be Constantly Open To Altering Your Perspective

If you think about the most successful people in global society they tend to have a common quality, or talent - that is, they are open to new ideas and willing to change their beliefs and strategies as a result of those new ideas. Successful businesspeople are able to take in feedback from their consumers and alter their business plans, and/or products, to best serve their audience. The best scientists deeply research important health or environmental issues which seriously affect the public, and then based on changes in their research data, formulate theories, develop new drugs, medical devices, etc. to improve the lives of those who consume the fruits of their scientific process. Similarly, for those of us who want to progress on Steemit, achievement of our long-term goals greatly benefits from constantly being open to, and deepening our learning of, the expanding features of the platform, and the many interesting people experimenting with, and doing interesting things on, Steemit. In this way, we are constantly refining our PERSPECTIVE on what Steemit ACTUALLY IS - and what it is FOR US personally, and then how we can contribute to Steemit in a way which enhances our personal growth in the more immediate, shorter term, while also enhancing the derivative longer term income which naturally arises out of our most rewarding participation on the platform. Our perspective drives our actions, and our actions produce results (in their various forms).

Today's Dreaded Homework Task

Take a few minutes to ponder the question : "What IS Steemit for me right now?" Think of all of the features of the platform which you are currently aware of. Think of which ones are working for you, and which ones aren't. Think of Steemit as the "Social Media 2.0" replacement to legacy social media platforms. Make a list of FIVE ways you can participate on Steemit IN ADDITION TO writing posts to earn Steem income, but which will provide you with more immediate and personal fulfillment.

For instance, from performing this task, my list looks something like this:

  1. Increasing the number of other interesting people's posts, and commenting on ones I like.

  2. Reading more of the comments on the interesting posts I read, and interacting with the people who comment.

  3. Reading one additional daily "Steemit tutorial" post which helps enhance my perspective of what Steemit is (for instance, posts about interesting new third-party Steemit apps being developed to enhance functionality of the platform).

etc.

Try out this task, and feel free to leave thoughts on your experience, and/or additional ideas to help with this "perspective building" process.

Full Steem Ahead...

Homework task - at it!

Thanks @ayment.mazkar . You are one of the first readers who have mentioned that you enjoy the homework, Most people have claimed that they WANT to do the homework tasks, but are too overwhelmed and busy. I agree with you that there is value in these well-designed homework tasks, and I STRONGLY urge anyone interested in this series to try and work through, starting with "Day 1" and follow the progression of homework tasks, as the benefits will be significant for their progress here on Steemit. Good luck...

Aw! It's kind of you to help out newbies. And obviously to learn something you've got to invest time and effort :)

Agreed. I'm working on the next gem of a post which I will likely put out by tomorrow, as I have found that one post every two days is an ideal pace for this series. Enjoy.

Will definitely read that
