Steemit is all about community-building. That's ULTIMATELY what we're all doing here. We're building "Civilization 2.0" upon the ashes of the FAILED 20th century (and EARLIER) social experiments - all of which generally landed humanity in a QUAGMIRE of INEQUALITY, DE-HUMANIZATION, and ALIENATION. As the NON-homonid ROBOTS continue TAKING OVER the planet, and PREVENTING us flesh-covered HOMONID robots called "Homo Sapiens Sapiens" from ANNIHILATING OURSELVES, there are SOME of us who are beginning to see a glimpse of HOPE that we are actually NOT headed towards the Orwellian DYSTOPIA many have feared. After all, TECHNOLOGY is ultimately a TOOL which can be used to CREATE, as WELL as DESTROY.

The Rise of "Community 2.0"

My various Gong Fu marketing tactics have resulted in the recent manifestation of an excellent podcast production which merged two FINE examples of what I am now terming the concept of "Community 2.0". Two EVOLVING online projects which I have been participating in (in various ways) over the past two years are : the "Mixed Mental Arts" and "Mei Leaf" communities. BOTH of these communities started as more MEDIA-focused (podcast format for "Mixed Mental Arts" and YouTube video format for Mei Leaf), but have now evolved Into full-on social media communities. Both have now grown BEYOND their nascent stage, and are headed into that higher-dimensional REALM which I am now calling "Community 2.0".

The REALIZATION of the POWER of "Community 2.0" really became clear to me upon the release of the new podcast interview I helped to organize between "Mixed Mental Arts" host Hunter Maats, and Don Mei - creator/founder of the Mei Leaf online/offline teahouse. Here is that episode, which I STRONGLY recommend you have a listen to in order to MORE FULLY understand the concept of "Community 2.0" which I am attempting to explain in this post :

I will let the above podcast episode illustrate the general concept of "Community 2.0" on its own. But I will also summarize the meaning of this concept a bit more here. With the REVOLUTIONARY advancements in, and merger of, various social-based technologies such as : online video, podcasting, social media, blockchain (Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT)) and its more socially-focused applications (such as the Steemit platform) - NEW MODES of communication and community-building are becoming available to us. Decentralized communities are ARISING which are HARNESSING the power of COMMUNICATION technologies and MERGING them with the POWERFUL leveraging tools of crowdfunding, and crowd-SOURCING of monetary and intellectual resources. Ideas and products are NO LONGER locked behind the WALLS of academia, government, intellectual patents, etc. and increasing turning towards the "wisdom - and resources - of the crowd".

These two projects above - a "brick-and-mortar" retail "third wave" tea operation gone VIRTUAL (Mei Leaf), and a podcast-based collective of intellectual truth seekers, gone VIRTUAL, are IDEAL examples of the EVOLUTION of civilization into the new paradigm of "Community 2.0".

I will be writing more about my evolving concept of "Community 2.0". But for now, please feel free to kick back with your favorite beverage, food, and/or (consciousness-raising) entheogen, and have an enlightening listen to this fine podcast episode, as you contemplate the potential future which exists as we move HEADLONG into the new paradigm of "Community 2.0".

As always, feel free to share your feedback.
