My first social experience on the interwebz was back in 1998 in the Usenet groups (specifically alt.tv.xena 😊 ) - it's amazing how social media has grown and evolved since then. Excellent look back and peek ahead, @blockurator!
Yeah, Usenet groups. I didn't mention them either. There were a ton of those! Are they still around? Social media has come a long way, but it's still got a ways to go. Thanks for your input!
They still exist, and I believe (no big surprise) Google took them over. I co-created the group alt.tv.farscape and one of our original members from '99 still keeps an eye on things/occasionally posts (which I only know because I get email alerts...LOL). And you're very welcome!
