what a great post! And what an exciting times. I was living in communist Czechoslovakia, we watched all that in awe and thought "Poles, Germans... we must be next!" And we were, on November 17th :-)
And as for Trabis: there were dozens of them (and Wartburgs, of course) at streets of Prague, deserted by their owners, another surreal experience of those days :-)
