Is there really a need for Steemit?

in #steemit7 years ago

Many of you have probably noticed that Steemit is pretty much the same content, or stolen content, or just robots throwing hundreds if not thousands of pounds of shit at the wall each day to see what sticks, so my question to you is, is the pay-to-win platform known as Steemit really necessary or useful?

Growth numbers are decreasing, the price of Steem is decreasing, original content is missing in action, which are all things to consider here, so again I ask you... is Steemit even useful to the masses?

Let me know what you think?

It's still relatively small so the options are small.

I look at Steemit like a proof of concept. It will probably end up being the Myspace of this movement. I think the future is less semi-decentralized platforms like Steemit and more things like Wildfire and the like which monetize and organize the broader internet.

Yeah, I can see that, but I think they should turn Steemit completely into a Reddit clone, with sub-Steemits and everything, this way people can organize better.

I wrote a post on how Steemit should focus on being a complete Medium clone, lol. But I think we both agree that Steemit needs to figure out who it actually wants to serve.

You're exactly right, and then they have to hire some real deal developers to get Steemit working right, and finally get it out of Beta. A year and a half is enough already.

This seems almost like a troll post imop. I think steemit is the future, if not itself then by steemit2.0 (cough, EOS, cough) whenever that comes along, but it's truly revolutionary. The majority of the internet is regurgitation. The majority of stories and movies are regurgitation. Art, is regurgitation, so if the case for an internet/blockchain with no steemit is being made...I say nay.

Creative will always be the most important variable. Your ability to take something and make it your own. The whole concept behind the game mums the wordor telephone. You here something, and then you repeat it...slightly differently. Look, you weren't the first person to write about life or fitness, technology, love, you weren't the first for any of it. None of us were, but you were the and will always be the first to say it in your own words, and that's worth being rewarded....especially when you actually spend time on crafting and formatting.
