I agree that author info and links should be provided. However, this unwritten rules point of view needs to be widened to include current blogging practices and archiving of material that may be censored elsewhere.

  • Half the internet is covered with re-blogged articles, punishing people for doing the same thing here will just drive people and content away. SEO should not be the reason people are downvoted.
  • Censorship is a real current threat. There are many reasons to put things into a blockchain, and the best one is to resist censorship of information. Posting complete articles with authorship info and external links should be encouraged as a backup source, in case Google or someone else decides to censor the information. There are many sites that do this already. This is not a new practice, and the steem blockchain is perfect for it.

And yes, speaking out against the richlist, posting unpopular opinions, or explaining your point of view can cost you future votes. As more than one person around here has said, "this place is a popularity contest". Stand up for yourself anyway, otherwise it will never change.

Free speech is more important than votes.

I think you're right regarding reblogged content, I'm fine with that and I'll either upvote or not, but I'll never downvote for reblogging your own content.
