The First Wave of Industry Disruption

Industry Disruption

Oh how I love STEEMIT. Most people on this platform today are still innovators and early adopters but the chasm is being crossed as we speak and this is exciting! Finally a platform that is truly disrupting and I believe STEEMIT will play an important role for the mass adoption of Blockchain Technology in various industries.

I’ll be discussing how Blockchain Technology is revolutionising our world by solving real problems in various industries and let’s kick this off with an easy one:

The Media/Blogging Industry

You are here and there are hundreds other STEEMIT praising articles so I’ll be short.

Finally a place to post (hopefully) valuable content and get something tangible in return. We’re getting rid of scammy marketing campaigns and let the article do the talking.

You should also be aware of AKASHA - Social Media Network which will soon be in Beta and (Vevue - Make and share Videos of events)[http://www.govevue.com].

The Music Industry

I’m from Belgium and have worked as a consultant for an association representing authors, composers and publishers. Their task is to collect, distribute and manage all copyrights in Belgium and all other countries where reciprocal agreements have been negotiated. The entity is considered an evil monopoly because it is a common belief they collects way more money than they are supposed to.

The music industry has already been shaken up by Apple and Spotify but keep in mind both are still centralised and take huge profits.

Enter Blockchain Disruption:
The go-to-guy for Music and Blockchain is Benji Rogers. He founded Pledge Music and
dotblockchainmusic. Check out his great article about how the blockchain and VR will change the music industry

If you want to see a blockchain prototype in action you can pay Imogen Heap $0.60 to download her song ‘Tiny Human’ on Ujo Music.

You can also check out:

The Energy Sector

Some of you might know that RWE and Slock.it are looking to offer Blockchain car charging

But soon you’ll be able to trade excess generated solar energy with your neighbour Check out this article about peer 2 peer trading in Brooklyn

Blockchain - IOT and the Supply Chain

Ok I’m cheating a bit as that’s not one industry but this is too broad to narrow down. Riddle and Code has created a tagging and token system that acts like a micro blockchain processor. Unfortunately the website doesn’t disclose much information but at a Blockchain Summit the founder Tom Fuerstner mentioned the prototype being ready and the patent pending. Code&Riddle are supposedly introducing the concept to the Fashion Industry. The blockchain micro processor would act as a unique identifier and an effective measure against the counterfeiting of luxury products.

Other players regarding registering products and creating visibility throughout the supply chain are:

Regis is particularly interesting because it is a tool developed by Consensys for the creation and management of a registry on the Ethereum Blockchain

BVRio has used Regis to develop an environmental exchange to trade ecological products tracked and traced from responsible resources securely and efficiently.
Environmental

That’s it for now - see you in a couple of days!
