Paper wallets, Online wallets. Desktop wallets and Hardware wallets are the most common.

One thing you dont want to do is keep your coins in an exchange.

I have heard story after story about how someone left their bitcoin in an exchange and the site was compromised leaving them with nothing.

If you want to keep you coins safe there are many ways to do so.

You can use a paper wallet. A paper wallet is as simple as it sounds. It is essentially a paper document with a QR code that houses your vital information. You can get a paper wallet like the one found here: https://www.bitaddress.org

Remember if you use a paper wallet never forget your private key!

If you are like me then paper wont suffice. I can see myself losing the paper as fast as I printed it. Lucly there are more options such as online and desktop wallets.

Online wallets are very simple to use. They do run a risk of being compromised but they are a hell of a lot safer than leaving your money on an exchange.

Online wallets I have used include Coinbase, BitGo and Gatehub. All of these wallets are secure and have never given me a problem. Interested in an online wallet? Google any of the ones listed and you will find them and and many tutorials on how to work them.

To use a desktop wallet you can go to Bitcoin.org to download the version you need for your operating system. Desktop wallets work about the same as online wallets. These wallets are as safe as you pc so please remember to keep it clean and free of hackers!!

My favorite form of saftey and storage of #BTC has to be hardware wallets. I find these to be the safest way to keep up with your coins. "A hardware wallet is a special type of bitcoin wallet which stores the user's private keys in a secure hardware device. They have major advantages over standard software wallets: private keys are often stored in a protected area of a microcontroller, and cannot be transferred out of the device in plaintext." - Bitcoin Wiki

I have two hardware wallets one being the Ledger nano s and the other being my favorite the Trezor.

The Trezor is the most popular hardware wallet foe many reasons. This device is strong, sturdy, minimalistic, safe and has 2 factor authentication
