Is steemit based on the same programming language as ethereum?

I was watching this video on youtube explaining what ethereum is and it sure sounds like steem. The creator said it's decentralized and the difference between ethereum and bitcoin is that you can create apps such facebook and etc, so this sure sounds like steemit to me? Can someone share their thoughts? I will include the video that I watched.
