I never understood why payouts on steem weren't recurring. The fact is that if a creator writes content and monetizes it with advertising they will typically continue to earn revenue for the entire lifetime of the post, makes steem only paying out for the first 7 days laughable.

I've also found that online content has the property that it can go unnoticed for months, then suddenly go viral and get millions of hits, the current system completely screws over that type of content. If steem paid out weekly for each of a user's post then it would be a much more viable revenue model.
