It makes me somewhat sad to think, but it seems like the more Steemit evolves, the more it is trending towards just becoming another Reddit-like hangout for flame wars and cliques... and not a genuine broad-based social content site.
If I hadn't watched the situation go down, I would completely agree with @sneak.
It feels very different watching it in real time where a huge stakeholder can just bully a minnow, oh, and a minnow who purchased his stake. When there is no recourse for this small investor, so his enjoyment and financial incentives are destroyed it is just sad.
There are those who will say, just buy in. However, this is where the current distribution comes in. Who is going to pay Yyuuge amounts of money so they can have more influence on this platform and the 500ish real people who are here? Hmm, guess we will wait and see.
To be fair to sneak, I probably would have given the same answer if I didn't know the whole story.

For the record I agree with @sneak. It so fundamental and basic to the platform. Of course any action that anyone can perform should be permitted. If some action should not be allowed (flagging for example) this should be changed at a blockchain level.
ahhh so do we even know when our stuff if flagged? I havent seen anywhere that my stuff is being flagged, I am not viuolating any rules and im always citing sources HEAVILY citing with generous amount of links and stuff, and if anyone is flagging my stuff i am not seeing it, i dont think thats why I hjave seen a drop off in payment, i was making like $5-$10 a day now its $0 and BARELY like 5 cents a day now its terribel and i was still making 40-100 upvote material with like no payouts compare dto just a few weeks ago! whatever, i hope it gets fixed , i HAVE been getting these "unclaimed" rewards and "vests" whatever vests are, i hhit the claim button and i dunno why they dont just AUTOMATIUCALLY claim, whatever tho, i duno why i have to hit a button to accept rewards? wtf whatever ist weird but keep em comin, and its slowly coming back up i just wanna know who took all the steem, like where di it all go ? was the old way unsustainmable or somethintg? were the oayouts unaturally high when i joined just a month ago or something? Did I just JOIN at a unaturaly high payouts? everyone seems to think it was normal,a ndf that wasnt the case many peopel who had joined way long ago have same problem as me, whatever, i think theyre actually censoring alt right people i swear, seemed liek everyone who had same problem as me with same zero payouts was all trump pepe supporters! i SWEAR thats whats going on, just more censorship more marginalization and banning us for our thoughts!

Yep only difference is flags or downvotes can be weapons that can be used to censor you by hiding all your content.
Only on by choice of the front end, i.e. steemit.com, there is no censorship on the blockchain.
