I wonder sometimes if a generation of parents forgot to say some important words to their kids, words that were repeated to me over and over.

"Anything worth having in life requires hard work"
"There is no such thing as a free meal"
"Anything worth doing is worth doing right"
"Never start a fight, but if someone starts one with you make sure to win" (ok that doesn't really apply, but think kids need to hear it)
"Life isn't fair, what are you going to do about it"

And so many more simple life facts that were said on a regular basis when I was a kid. Adults across the board were free to impart these lessons on kids helping them understand that their success in life was going to have to be of their own doing.

So if you want success get off your duff and go earn it. There will be plenty of people to help you along the way, but don't expect anything out of anyone. Just be happy with the support you receive.
