That's why I think the sponsorship thing would work well I think. Say you like photography and the blog you are reading is sponsored by photography equipment makers. It is likely that advertising is relevant to you and also if it includes some kind of discount for you too then it would be even better.
It would be an incentive, plus if someone is already thinking about buying a new camera that could sway it
