Buy Something Real

After the hard-fork of Bitcoin, it made me think: where is this money coming from? Wealth is being created before your eyes and some people are making a lot of money from something that did not exist previously (with the spin-off currency of Bitcoin Cash). In fact, someone holding BTC basically got "free money" at a proportion of however much BTC they held prior to the fork. A savvy invertor could have bought millions of dollars in BTC, only to receive the spin-off currency Bitcoin Cash, and made thousands of dollars.

My point is not to sell you on cryptocurrencies though, what I am saying is that if you have made a profit on cryptocurrencies, then make sure you cash a portion out and buy something tangible. Buy a watch, a set of speakers, a pair of shoes, just something. Then ask yourself where that money came from to buy that item and say, "I paid $0 for this, how did I get it?" It has been fascinating to witness the growth of digital currencies and places like Steemit come into being.

There is the opportunity for massive wealth or loss, but just the fact that it exists in itself is extraordinary. There are many very intelligent people working behind the scenes to keep the show going, and like it or not, technology has progressed to the point to where money is not anything like what it was before. Hedge your bets, be ready for regulations and panic sales, crashes, loss of fortunes, and highschool dropouts becoming millionaires. Maybe it isn't what you expected 2017 would be, I don't know. Just buy some token amount of something to hold onto. That way, like a time capsule, you can look back and see where you were during all of this change.
